Investment Memo
We Invested in a Tiny Creature With a Carbon Portfolio
Why we’re backing Mundo Mundo, the company connecting collectible blind-box figurines to verified CO₂ cleanup.

Climate change has created an urgent need to reduce emissions and pay for the work of cleaning up what is already in the atmosphere. The carbon-credit industry has developed around that need, giving companies a way to finance projects and account for their contributions. Much of the experience has consequently been designed for corporate buyers: procurement teams, sustainability departments, and people who can schedule an afternoon to discuss verification standards. An individual who wants to participate encounters an industry considerably better prepared to receive a multinational.
We believe that leaves a consumer opportunity worth taking seriously. People can understand why carbon cleanup matters without knowing how to evaluate a project, purchase a credit, or interpret the documentation that follows. Even when those steps become accessible, the purchase can feel remote. Money changes hands, a confirmation arrives, and the buyer is left trying to develop an attachment to a quantity. The industry has spent considerable effort making carbon legible to a company. We’re interested in what might make it meaningful to a person.
That is why we’re backing Mundo Mundo, a company connecting collectible blind-box figurines to verified CO₂ cleanup. Each character carries a connection to real cleanup that its owner can look up and understand. Customers open a box, discover which figure they have received, and find out what comes with it. Something that might otherwise exist as an entry in a corporate account now has a name, an expression, and a place beside someone’s laptop. It may also be the chunky one they were hoping for.
The product gives people a reason to become interested before asking them to become informed. A customer might first notice a character on a friend’s shelf, buy a box because they like the collection, and only then investigate the associated credit. Their curiosity now concerns something they own. Where did this cleanup happen? What does the credit represent? Why does one figure carry something different from another? These questions become easier to approach when the answers explain the small creature they have already decided to keep.
What interests us commercially is how that first purchase can develop into an ongoing relationship. Characters belong to sets, new releases give collectors something to anticipate, and gifts introduce the product to people who would be unlikely to seek out a carbon-credit provider. The environmental component travels with an object someone actually wants to show another person. A customer can explain the cleanup in considerable detail while holding a figure with an unfortunate haircut. We believe both parts help the explanation remain memorable.

The founders also understand that customers can take the underlying contribution seriously while enjoying everything around it. Someone may carefully read the verification details and still choose their next purchase according to which character looks most upset. Another may begin with an interest in climate action and gradually develop firm opinions about the arrangement of the collection. Those are promising developments for a consumer business. The product has become something people participate in voluntarily, with reasons to return that extend beyond remembering they ought to do something useful.
Execution will require the company to earn trust in the associated cleanup and affection for the collection. The documentation must clearly explain what each purchase represents, and the characters must remain worth owning after the packaging is opened. We’re proud to support Mundo Mundo as it brings a consumer experience to an industry largely organized around corporate participation. Our conviction is that more people can become interested in carbon cleanup when there is an approachable, enjoyable way to take part. Some will arrive with questions about the planet. Others will want to know when Fat Princess is back in stock. The company has a reason to welcome both.
